DE GOURNAY'S REIMAGINED
NEW YORK SHOWROOM
de Gournay, the internationally acclaimed purveyor of hand-painted wallpapers, fabrics, and porcelain, proudly announces the grand reopening of its New York City showroom at 243 East 59th Street. This milestone underscores the brand’s dedication to advancing craftsmanship and innovation in luxury interiors on a global scale.
Located in the heart of New York’s design district, the newly reimagined showroom showcases de Gournay’s signature craftsmanship within an immersive setting. Eleven distinct rooms display the finest hand-painted wallpapers and embroidered fabrics, curated by the brand’s design team. The showroom’s entryway, adorned in the ‘Central Park’ scenic wallpaper, pays tribute to the city’s most iconic landscape, meticulously rendered in high-contrast grisaille to evoke the elegance of Deco-era New York. Above, ‘Celestial Atlas,’ an intricate hand-embroidered and beaded ceiling installation, mirrors Grand Central Station’s legendary celestial vault, shimmering with metallic-thread constellations.
Among the highlights, the porcelain lounge features ‘St. Laurent,’ an opulent Chinoiserie design inspired by antique panels owned by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, depicting elaborate peacocks and doves amid lush florals. The adjacent sitting room showcases ‘Namban,’ an abstract seascape inspired by Imperial Japanese art, its swirling patterns recalling the lacquerwork of Jean Dunand.
The space is further enriched by bespoke millwork and cabinetry by Clive Christian Interiors, alongside a curated color palette from British luxury paint brand Mylands. Collaborations with leading design firms, including Porta Romana, Samuel & Sons, and Urban Electric, contribute to the showroom’s seamless blend of historical grandeur and contemporary refinement. With this reopening, de Gournay reinforces its position as a leader in luxury interiors, offering a refined space where clients can explore timeless designs and unparalleled craftsmanship.
